    Camera Lens

    Hi,

I am trying to set up a small business in selling camera lens in Dubai by shipping it from somewhere. The prices would be around 80% of the prices selling here (haven't checked Canon yet, but will start with Nikon as I am familiar with). The lens will have international warranty and they will be brand new. So you would be able to repair it here , the same as you can do for the lens you bought from Grandstores. If there's any photographers here, I am trying to gather some opinions, or would anybody be interested?

Nikon gear will have international warranty? As far as I understand it there is no such thing, but I may be wrong. I thought Nikon warranty was market-specific.

Interested? You've not provided enough information for anyone to say whether they are interested or not.

i would doble check that ... i do order my nikon lenses from US .. they are really cheaper..

my 500mm F/4 was for around 29000 (including tax and shipping)
here.. in grand store.. they sell it for more than 37000

ordering from the internet is helpful indeed.. but i wont agree in the international warranty tough.
however, a keen photographer who orders his tools from the internet is keen enough to take care of them skipping the need of the warranty.

Yes it will have international warranty, 100% sure, genuine Nikon warranty. I mean I am sure for the ones I am trying to sell, not sure about others.

the one I am trying to get will have international warranty. It's called 'Worldwide service warranty" as how they termed. I am just asking would you be interested in that case? or will still prefer internet purchase (I also did)? was trying to gather more information from photographers =) . Would you take into account that warranty as one of the factor?

Of course I would. If you can sell Nikon stuff here below the common market price, like from Grand Stores, then people may want to buy it, but only if it has valid Nikon warranty in UAE so if something happens it can be serviced here.

i think nikon will give you an international warrenty BUT. the problem will be with the authorized dealer here which is grand store.. they will refuse to servic items not from there store on th warrenty. this was the case two years back with some nikon items.

Yes, I just tried last weekend, take my lens to Nikon service centre to calibrate. No hassle. =)

I wasn't sure what happened in the past, but I did manage to take my lens (with official warranty purchased somewhere else) to the local Nikon service centre last Saturday. They don't really have any questions at all. =)

Skipping warranty on a 10,000USD lens. Good advice indeed...
