Keyboard Illumination

Dear All,

I just got a MacBook Pro and seem to have a problem with the keyboard illumination. I press the F5 & F6 keys to adjust the brightness of the keyboard illumination and for some reason cannot. The OSD shows a circle with a stroke when i press either of the buttons.

Any way to resolve this issue???

Thanks.

Does it make a difference if you hold down the Fn key and press the F5/F6 at the same time?

Are you in a bright room?
The keyboards only light up in dim or dark rooms.

It doesn't make a difference if i hold the FN keys and press F5 & F6.

BTW, i just got the MacBook Pro last night. It worked perfectly last night and inspite of the room being bright or dark, i could always use the F5 & F6 keys to adjust the illumination of the keyboard and due to some reason today i cannot do it anymore.

ravi,
try this. in a dark place switch ur MPB on. generally with lights on the F5 and f6 dont work showing a circle with a dash exactly as you mentioned. But once your in a dark room try F5 F6 if that does not work try using it with the function key.
This should do it for you.

Ravi,
even if this does not work try downloading lab tick. Lab Tick.
this will add to ur menu bar and give your full control of ur keyboard lights.
