Lightbulb How to set a new password

Hi,

put the OS X Installation-CD in the drive, restart and hold the 'C' for booting up from the cdrom. Then in the Menu of the installer there click on restore password or so. Use 'root' as username for the admin-account or klick on your account name, then follow instructions until it wants a restart. Now it should work.

Have fun.

Jόrgen

If you do this, I'd recommend backing up and starting from scratch as soon as possible. A few times when I've had to do this on different machines in the past, afterward I've had problems with permissions on files and folders. In my mind, it's a temporary solution to get into files.

Smile permissions

Yes, Magnus is right, sometimes there are problems with the permissions afterwards. There is a HDD-utility (maybe you know it) which can solve that problems too, but when it fails, your system is crashed.

To do a backup right after that is for sure the secure way, what you should do.

Keep me posted. Thx
