Angry MacBook Pro Extended Warranty not for UAE residents!! Shocking!

Dear Administrator,

You have always come to the rescue to all the Mac users in the UAE. I dont think any of us can thank you less!!

This time i write to request you to please do something so that all the users of Macbooks in the UAE are not at loss for no fault of theirs.

I am very angry and upset with the fact that although UAE, one of the most developed country in the Middle East, and which has the highest users of Apple Products in this region are still at loss for buying Mac Products and using them in the UAE!!

Just like my case, there may be so many of our friends who have purchased Macbooks under 1 year free Warranty, but, cannot extend it, WHY!!??? because there is no "Authorised" Dealer to help with it!!! Not even the iStore!!
Now, when i am in India, i contacted the Apple Support, and they have flatly denied that since my 1 year has been surpassed, they cannot do anything to provide me the Extended Warranty.
I have lost hope..!!
I do not wish that our UAE friends also suffer like me. Thus this appeal to you, to please do something to resolve this injustice.

macadi, I didn't get it fully.
Is your Mac out of one year warranty period already?
Is there something wrong with your MacBook currently and need fixing?
Do you know when is it possible for a US or UK Mac user to purchase an extended warranty?

Sorry, I don't quite understand either. IMC has said that they honor any Apple warranty which includes Applecare (Apple's extended warranty). So what exactly is the issue?

I think he is saying that he has not been able to buy extended Apple Care after the expiry of his 1 year free warranty that comes with the purchase.

Well surely I'd like to have an extended warranty, but I don't know what are the conditions to buy them if someone can enlighten us.

I have asked in my earlier post above whether US or UK Mac users can purchase an extended warranty after Apple's one year period had expired so we can compare it with our situation here.

Can you tell us where did you hear about UAE distributor or dealers rejecting extended warranty?

You have to buy and apply AppleCare extended warranty before the original 1 year warranty runs out, after that you can not. That has nothing to do whether it's UAE, US or somewhere else though, as far as I know. If you're in UAE and buy AppleCare from US, and apply it within the 1 year period, it is honored here for service, IMC has said.

Actual Case

Dear All,

The issue is that, i bought my Macbook Pro from NewYork on May 18,2007, for which the warranty expired on May 17,2008.
Since i am living in Dubai, during that period i have been breaking my head with all the Apple Stores and the Service Centres in the UAE, but, no one was ready to help because they excused themselves by saying that the Extended Warranty option is not yet launched in the UAE.
I travelled to India, on May 23nd, 2008, and contacted the local Apple Care, and found that i was too late to subscribe to the Extended Warranty because i surpassed my 1 Year Warranty Period!! I gave them all the proofs that i am resident of UAE, but, it did not help.

So, my plight is simple, that, the way i have been devoid of Extended Warranty, because i am living in the UAE. Other friends should suffer the same fate.

Regards,
Macadi

Okay, so the issue is that AppleCare is not sold in UAE, or in any IMC market. This is an important issue and one we've discussed many times here on the site. Personally I doubt we can fault IMC for it, it's more likely an Apple Inc or Apple Europe decision.

So what to do? Well, I think that making these kinds of issues public on forums such as this is one thing we can do. It's not a quick solution, it's not going to result in a quick fix, but it will build momentum the more we do it.
