Did you try to boot from the installation DVD? Does that work? Run Disk Utility to check the disk?

I am seriously depressed.. I will try using the CD.. When I turn on my laptop.. I see that little grey apple.. with the loading thin under...

Well, I left it on..for about 15 minutes..now I see the blue screen that comes up before you log into the account..and the mouse..

What do u see in the Disk Utility.
If the hard is dead, it won't show up on the left.
Please tell me you see it.

Most probably you can, since it stalls at the grey screen.
You might have to reinstall the system if you can't repair it.

The good news is the hard is still there.
What options do you have when you select "Macintosh HD"?

Also, do u have access to another Mac?
You might want to back up.
