Internet Problems

Hey, so I finally set up my new wireless modem.. Thats a good thing, everything is much faster.. but now the thing is, my Macbook keeps disconnecting from it.. Even when I connect my Macbook to another connection through a router(for downstairs) it connects and disconnects..goes on.. But now a few minutes ago, I went to System Preference > Network, then it showed me that I had to enter a user name and password for the router..Which is something that NEVER happened..and I had to also tick PPoE I will take a screen shot and show you guys what I mean.

And what I have circled on the picture is something that appeared =S and when clicked on it says
Connceted:PPoE
Disconnect
Airport with a check beside it

ok, the connection and the disconnection is a problem with leopard. if u look at the airport icon and click on it, u'll see tht leopard keeps on scanning for networks even when u connect to a network. then it disconnects u to update the refreshed list and tht is why u keep getting disconnected. i face the same problem when i have more than 1 routers in range of my macbook. apple still hvnt come up with a fix for this i cant use my macbook@skool due to this problem. highly frustrating

Is the network at the top of the list of preferred networks? I've found similar problems if a network is not in the past. Another fix for similar problem has in the past be to enable AppleTalk for the network. Doesn't make much sense to me but it has proven to work before.

I've had similar problem, and the solution has either been to move the Mac closer to the access point so it can connect well one time, then it seems more accepting of connections with less signal strength, or to move the network to the top of the the preferred networks list. But it's not a solution that always works unfortunately.
