showing Hidden drives Hi, I bought a month ago a WD external drive that I used for one day as a Time Machine drive. After that I changed my mind and decided to use it as a normal external drive. The problem is that the drive was showing normally in my desktop for a while and then suddenly it stopped appearing in my desktop. I tried searching for some of the files and folders that are in this drive and I was able to access them. It seems like this particular drive is hidden from my desktop and the side menu in finder *check attached file* http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e3...Picture1-1.png how can I unhide my external drive? PS: am takin abt dxbutterfly drive

I'll suggest first go to finder Preferences (Cmd ,) and see that you and check mark on both General and Sidebar preferences - Show these items on the Desktop: External disks. Show these items in the Side Bar: External disks. One thing for sure when a disk is playing tricks on you, its high time you make a backup of it before its fully 'Dead'.

No, verify or even repair won't. Only if you format or partition will it erase. If you're really concerned, try to borrow another external drive to copy everything to. It might be a good idea to do that anyway, then to reformat your drive and put everything back.
