Leopard, can't empty trash

Obviously it's not the only problem with Leopard, but it is a very strange matter that a small task cannot be done.

There are few different items in the Trash can, select empty trash or secure empty trash in any view doesn't complete the task.

There are other similar questions on Apple's support online pages but can't see any solution apparently.

Any one knows a cure?

Does holding down Alt when selecting empty trash make a difference? As far as I know that's not secure empty trash, it just doesn't ask any (potential) questions when emptying.

You could be adventurous and try the Terminal:
Code:
sudo rm -Rf ~/.Trash/*

Hi Zaid and Yasir;

1- The following answer was posted on MacFixIt:
>My advice would be to: disable the secure empty option in Finder prefs,
>and don't secure empty using the Finder menu either (unless you work at
>the NSA, etc.). And if it happens and won't stop... then relaunch Finder.
>I don't see how anyone else but Apple can fix this.

2- You can even try The following programs,

- Onyx : OnyX 1.8.4b software download - Mac OS X - VersionTracker

-iEmpty :iEmpty 1.2 - MacUpdate

A word of caution, be extremely careful when using Onyx, it is very powerful but can be dangerous too if you do not know what you are asking it to do. Just select the task you want it to preform and deselect oder ones.

Good luck
Al-Irani

I used the option and command keys but they didn't do the trick, I read in few threads that using a third party app will empty trash.

I use Onyx for a year now and it does a good job always, and was waiting to have a Leopard compatible version to use it.

So bottom line, Onyx worked… thanks Al-Irani.

After 30 years of having a trash can in Mac OS system, we have a vicious Leopard that can't empty it alone!

Great, good solution for other users who may get into trouble.

I'm not sure which video you mean, is there any thing in particular?
