Is this the same computer you reset the password of? did you do 'repair disk permission' when you where in there? if not try doing that. But I think high time reinstall the full system all over again. 'archive and install' you wouldn't lose much.

All computers have problems, and there's always the risk that you get a lemon, whatever brand you buy. Anyone who may have told you there are no problems on Macs, lied to you. I would say that Macs generally have less problems than PCs though.

I'm not sure you ever said you tried it or not, but Repair Disk Permissions is one thing to try. Boot into Single User Mode is another thing.

Don't give up! If you like you can bring your Mac to the EMUG meeting this Friday, and hopefully someone can help you.

s2000

Hey s2000 could you post your log files and dmesg output to the list so we can look. I have had several kernel panics with Mac Kernels and every time I have experienced kernel panics in the past it has been because of a driver issue which has caused the problems Usually due to me playing with new hardware... using a bsd or linux driver.

There should a seperate log file for a kernel panic (panic.log).

Hi S2000 The panic.log file is located in your startup disk in /Library/Logs/
