Cool Bitter experience in iStyle Abu Dhabi Marina Mall

Hi guys, just wanted to share with you what happened to me in the last couple of days.

I went to iStyle in Abu Dhabi Marina Mall looking for a wireless keyboard with numeric pad.

So I'm there looking at the box of the keyboard with the numeric pad (the long one) when the guy from the shop shows up asking if I needed anything.
So I say, yes, I was looking for a wireless keyboard with numeric pad.
He goes: sure, English only or English and Arabic?
    I tell him English only.

So the guy gives me the keyboard with the numeric pad, I pay 256Dh and I go.

Next day I thought, since I leave in Oman, let me check if the keyboard is really English only.. I opened the box and to my surprise I found the USB cable.

I went back to the shop to exchange the keyboard with a wireless one and I found that:

    1) there is NO Apple wireless keyboard with numeric pad
    2) they didn't want to exchange my keyboard with anything else since I already opened the box (keyboard was still untouched of course)

To be honest that is not what I was expecting from an official Apple store.
I'm pretty sure if this was an US store they would have change it without any problem.

So I'm left now with this brand new keyboard which I didn't want in a first place.
If anybody is interested I can let it go at 200Dh.

Sorry to hear about your experience. If you asked for a wireless keyboard with numerical pad then they should definitely have informed you that it doesn't exist. Perhaps the sales person misunderstood. We'll make sure iStyle management knows about the issue.

If you could pm me your name, mobile number and if you know the sales person's name that sold you the keyboard, I'll pass the info along.

    Thanks Magnus.

    Definetly there was a misunderstanding.
During the conversation the "wireless" part went missing somewhere.

I found the iStyle website and already dropped an email to that address.
I was impressed by the very short time they took to reply me, and they told me they will look into the issue.

    Let's see how it goes..

There's an iStyle in Marina Mall? I know there is one in AUH mall, is this one new? Where in the mall?

    Here we go again:

    1. YOU should have known that there is no such thing as what you were asking for. As I started reading your above rant I was thinking to myself... Oh? THey finally released one?

2.NO ONE will exchange an opened item unless it has some fault. So I'm not sure why you are surprised with this. It would have been smarter for you to have "dropped" it and taken it back and claimed it was broken.

    3. Good for you. But you arent in the US, or Russia, or the Maldives, are you? I hate people who dont do their homework then try to justify their stupidity with the IF THIS WAS ANYWHERE ELSE routine. As for them being an Official Apple store... You probably would have gotten more understanding from Akhmad Jamal's Electronic Trading behind El Dorado Cinema.

"Thambic ala Yambic" = This was your fault. Next time be SURE of what you want and what you're getting.

    My 2 cents worth.

    Got something heavy for lunch

    1. I don't have to know the entire Apple website from A to Z to know what is available and what is not. I have more important stuff to do with my time.
That's why they put people in the shop to advise customers.

    2. I asked for a wireless keyboard and that's not what I got

    3. Talking about stupidity the tone of your post speaks for itself

    4. I was SURE what I wanted, that is not what I have got. Refer back to #2

    5. Go to Marina Mall and ask where is the iStyle shop. They'll tell you.

    Peace bro

    Ouch.
Its obvious there has been a misunderstanding here.
But Ultra does have a bit of a point here.
Its best to know before you buy in this part of the world.
As you will find u would be much safer.

This is in no way an excuse for how it is.

    Customer service

I'm amazed at the willingness to accept poor customer service simply because of the part of the world we live in.

He specifically asked for a device that was wireless. The customer service representative told him the product would meet his requirements. It did not. The store and the CSR are in the wrong, not the customer who believed what he was told.

There is no point in having customer service representatives if they are free to misrepresent the products. If they plan to do business this way they should pull all the reps and have nothing but cashiers.

THank you fangpyre. Plus its not like I am saying this from a lack of experience. This happened to me not 2 weeks ago when I was looking for a cover for my iPhone... I was handed the RIGHT brand and model... BUT it was for an iPod Touch 2G. I lived with it. It was my fault.

Rants like these remind me of Jr. High. When students who didnt prepare for a test would be annoyed at the teacher.
