| Macbook with Flickering screen I got a Macbook, bought in September and it has a flickering screen issue after startup and waking from sleep. It's not big thing but it is annoying when it happens and it's not supposed to as it's only a few months old. I know I should take it to Mac store in Abu Dhabi mall where I bought but knowing the UAE's amazing track record and reputation for customer service, it will probably be shipped off somewhere for months only come back with the same fault with some smug note blaming me for it through "moisture damage" or something like that! Any tips? Steve

| I don't think you have much choice, you have to submit it for a hardware fix. From what I can read online that's the way to fix your problem. Sure there are many stories here about crappy service, but there are also many happy customers (believe it or not). It's under warranty so you can take it to other places, like Protech. |

| Simialr story Another person in Saudi had a similar issue with his Macbook, he took it to the dealer and after one week he got it back fixed and happy. Can you film it and post it here to see how exactly the flickering s going? |

As the issue is temperamental, it doesn't always happen, just 75% of the time after waking or on start-up but goes after it's warmed up or something. But I will recorded it and post here. Steve Last edited by Welshsteve; 6th January 2007 at 14:56..

| Perhaps I was being overly sceptical, but I did take an iFm (iPod paripheral for recieving FM radio) back to the Macstore that just stopped working after about 3 months, and they gave me that frown, you know the one! The "it's more than my job's worth" -look! So given all my other experiences here, I just thought. "What's the point?" But granted, 250dhms for that as opposed to 7500 dhms for the Macbook, I should go in and get them to sort it. Ok, point taken. Will got this afternoon. Thanks for all the replies folks! This is a great place to exchange Mac talk for sure!! Steve. |

| I have the same problem with a G4 that I am not using anymore (being replaced by the Mac book Pro) shall I go to the MAC store dirctly or through their agent? The other issue I have as well is that I had bought the warranty extension for it but it seems it was not registered properly, is there a way I can redeem this unused warranty extension? |

From experience I and others here may suggest to take your G4 (PowerBook I presume) to Protech as they have proven to be supportive and fast. As for the Warranty if it's still valid and you have the papers to prove your case, then certainly don't let them charge you, because they will charge you heaps!
