I have had mixed bag results with VPN support in Dubai as well. Have you switched browsers? If not, try that. The results may be surprising.
Hello everyone,
I recently bought VPN account from reputable provider in USA, setup according to website manual and got mixed results: previously blocked in UAE websites working fine but well known ones like apple.com, microsoft.com are dead. Suspect DNS issues, but company using quite good OpenDNS.com as main DNS source.
So anybody have GOOD knowledge of setting up VPN in OSX leopard.
P.S. The same computer under Vista and same VPN settings working no problem, so its OSX issue.

If you don't dare to dream, you'll always live in status quo - and we all know how boring that is!
I tried with Opera 10 - same results. But in VirtualBox on SAME mac everything works well.
Open up Terminal. Type ping Apple
You should see this:
PING Apple (17.112.152.32): 56 data bytes
If the IP address is different, then there's something wrong with their routing tables. Especially if it works, if you're not logged into the VPN. I would contact them and ask them about it.
You can also try going to this: http://17.112.152.32 It should take you to Apple.

Strange, but this is what i got
PING Apple.com (17.149.160.49): 56 data bytes
36 bytes from apple-17.sje.pnap.net (66.151.128.62): Communication prohibited by filter

^C
--- Apple.com ping statistics ---
34 packets transmitted, 0 packets received, 100% packet loss
Very damn interesting.
Meaning this is under VPN. Seems like big websites has some IP protection

Hi, this is FastVPN Unlimited. Yes I use PPTP VPN software embedded into OSX (its 10.5.7 with all updates). Also I connected to other world via TimeCapsule working as Router (basic firewall, DHCP, NAT). For virtual machines I use VMWare ESX server on another physical server but its also connected via TimeCapsule.
Strange enough - the virtualized Windows XP, Vista, W7, W2008 does not have any issues with this VPN - all packets sent in Pings, and all website worked. Suspect some routing problems in OSX.
nestat -nr should provide you with the routing table on OSX. However if there was a routing issue then I would have thought that your VMs (which are running on the OSX would have the same routing issue, as they will be using the same IP Stack, as you are using NAT).
Can you clarify the below comment:
* When you fire up the VPN. It connects no problems right ?
* Once the VPN is up OSX can no longer access any internet resources?
* However the Virtual Machines on OS X have no problems with connecting to internet resources when the VPN is up ?
Can you post your system.log to the list (and sanitise as needed)
Dan
