shared files problem

ok, so i migrated everytihng from my old mac, this was the first time i switched mac to mac. now when i wanted to transfer ALL my files, i used AppleTalk, shared the files that i wanted and downloaded them via my wifi router. now the problem is tht they're READ ONLY files, how do i change the read-only status? bcuz it gets a lil pissing off

Get Info on the folder/files and change permissions?

nopr, sharing and permission says "You can Only Read" and i cant seem to change it, and i duno, if its a word document and i try making changes to it, i have to save it as another file.. any ideas?

In the Get Info palette can you click the padlock, log in as admin?
