Time Machine Problem since 10.5.2 upgrade Hi, Ever since I upgraded to 10.5.2 I have not been able to use Time Machine as it keeps bombing out half way through a back up with an error message Anyone else experiencing that problem? Tried to delete old back up and start anew but without success. Any pointers anyone? Rgds gday

Not very descriptive I'm afraid: Unable to complete backup. An error occurred while copying files to the backup volume. I just searched the web and a few people are having this problem, but I can't find a link to solution. I'm going to try via a USB cable instead of FW and see if that fixes it. MacBook Pro, 500 GB La Cie drive worked fine up until the upgrade. Rgds Gday

You might want to check the available space in the backup drive. I noticed in my system, a Mac Pro with 1TB drive, Time Machine hourly backups can reach upto 400GB with little drive changes done from my side. So check the available space and monitor the menu bar icon for Time Machine to see the amount backed up. It should delete old obsolete records.

Hi All, Okay find I wasn't the only one having this problem. It appears Time Machine isn't all it's cracked up to be. So I have gone back to good old Back Up. Example I ran TM with the console window open and found it got stuck on certain files which caused the error. Once deleted or excluded the TM carried on till it hit another file it didn't like and so on. This was confirmed by other users having the same problem with TM. Some reckoned that TM in 10.5.1 was not really backing up everything, which is worrying, and was corrected in the upgrade to 10.5.2, but resulted in the above errors. Plus others reported external drive problems with continuos use of TM. So I have gone back to .Mac BackUp until it's cured. Rgds Gday
