I am so glad I ordered iWork with my Mac. this has forced me to learn to use it or use my old iBook (20 inch vs. 12, lol) After a while using it, I can truthfully say that you wont miss MS Office. Its just takes some getting used to. And with all the issues that may come with Office, and the cheaper pricetag, iWorks is more than enough for 90% of the users out there. Oh, and I agree 100% with Appleholic. :-P

Here's a novelty. Don't make a stupid mistake like this one. I know you can make mistakes when you have so much code. But this is a substantial thing and they have got to have sat down in a meeting room and collectively decided to do this. I mean...

It does but if I open a Word file I can't just Save, I have to Export it. If you have to work with Office documents all day that becomes a real pain in the you know what. I wish Apple would let us do as in OpenOffice, just Save and it would retain it as a Word file. Same applies to KeyNote and Numbers.

I don't think Apple would ever do what NeoOffice does, because it is in their best interest to promote their own format. (NeoOffice allows you to choose the default format you want to use. All new files will use this format.) However, if they would only maintain the format of a file I opened, it would be tolerable. So if I open a doc file, it will save in that format, but anything new is created in its format unless you export. Maybe somebody will make some kind of plug in for that.

That is true, you do have to export them as Doc files if you want that format, but as a firm believer that MS is the devil in a corporate disguise, I'd much rather export than give them one more dime of my money. It gets a bit annoying BUT its good for me in a way since no one around here will be able to open my files. a good feature when you have 20 something cousins and brothers/sisters running around. I like my privacy.
