Have you got any issues with Leopard ? Post here Please

Hey Everyone,

OS X is a week old, what have you found, what do you like ? What do you dislike ?

I have discovered that there is no support for Java 6 yet, but its ok I can wait. I also had to upgrade flipforMac as well.

One of the guys I work with says that Super Duper no longer works and has been having some problems with his palm desktop.

My Design Department told me that they had heard from fellow designers that photoshop 7 didn't work either.

iPhoto 2.0 does not work

iPhoto which was originally bundled with 10.2 on a 12" PB (purchased in Mar 2003) does not work. However, iMovie works.

Apple - Support - Discussions - Leopard killed my 10.3 iPhoto ...

Iconic gripe.

A minor gripe : I dislike the fact that all my old icons have disappeared and are overwritten by the new set which don't stand out. What's worse is that when I first go into a folder I can see the files with their original icons (eg the default NeoOffice set) - and which you can see changing one by one into the new Apple standard.

I know it's only a small thing, but I do want my old icons back !

Time Machine.

I'm not yet convinced by this.

I can see real benefits for people who don't currently back up and who want a "fire and forget" approach.

I'm currently running TimeMachine to see how it goes - but I like the flexibility that Intego's Personal Backup X4 gives me. I can back up what I want, when I want and where I want. I can have different backup cycles depending on the criticality of the data. I can even choose which of the different backup techniques to use and how many cycles to retain.

With TimeMachine it's simple - all you have to do is say what you don't want and then forget about it . No flashy stuff, and no worries (until such time as your disk fills up !).

I'm still to be convinced I can live without the (admittedly far more complex) backup regime that I get with Intego.

One thing I have found, however, is that you don't get 24 hours worth of backups (which is how I read it), but you retain your last 24 hourly backups.

Since I take my MacBook pro to work, for much of the day it cannot perform its hourly backup. But it still retains the last 24 backups, regardless of how long ago they were taken.

Zaid Al Hilali will become famous soon enough
Trash can doesn't empty unless I use a third party software.

Not a bug or any thing, but the transparent menu bar is annoying as first OSX had too many transparent and shadow effects back then. I wish if there is a way to make it opaque again.

ok, the most anoying thing is happening with my macbook
u knw the screen tht appears, tht has it written that "u need to restart your macbook now" in like 4 or 5 different languages? and after tht screen shows, u have no other option but to restart cuz the mac dsnt let u do nethin? thts wat's been happening to me, and its happnd the 4th time in less than a day
and it nvr, NEVER happend on the Tiger. Apple needs to come up with another update real soon or they'll lose out on people who're really loyal to apple bcuz the leopard, so it seems, was so not ready for its release yet
or am i the onli one having stability issues?

You're not the only one, but you should perhaps not be so quick to blame Leopard. Kernel panics happen most often in my experience when something is wrong or ill-configured in terms of hardware.

From a designer's point of view, Extensis Suitcase X1 is acting real weird and keeps quitting. And yes, the translucent bar at the top is quite annoying although im not gonna fix it up with a patch. I also dislike how the shadows for the windows appear now, its a bit too much.
