Missing OS X restore disk

Hi,

Really hoping someone can help me. I have a Macbook running Leopard 10.5.8 and I am having problems with many applications quitting unexpectedly. I have tried a few things but have decided to do a restore or see what I can do with booting from the restore disk.

Only problem is...my restore disks are in the original box that came with my Macbook which are in the loft of my house in the UK.

Therefore does anyone know where I can obtain these in Dubai. I was told in Europe an Apple store will just give you one of these if you ask, however I don't fancy my chances at IStyle.

Can any one help?

Also any advice on what to do once I have the disks would be appreciated.

Hi guys, I am having the same issue as chickynee.

Need to reinstall my OS on my macbook pro but don't find the disks back.

Apparently you need the correct version to do this, so not all will do the job.

Somebody told me you can request this from apple in the US directly.... anybody who has done this? How to go forward?

Buy the off-the-shelf version of Snow Leopard, it'll work for all Intel Macs. If you have non-Intel Mac you'll have to find a Leopard one or older.

I was considering that. But still rather expensive for something I could just reinstall if I just had the reinstall disks...

Will an upgrade version of snowleopard allow me to reinstall everything and even format? Or do I really have to buy a full version off the shelf?

There is currently no such thing as an upgrade disc... It's the ful-version all the way. When you buy SL, it allows you to format, re-install or upgrade as you wish. It is not bad for something costing the same as a tank of fuel for your car...

Went to Istore this morning but they only had the "mac box set" including Ilife and Iworks... at 900 AED.

They said SL was not sold separately anymore...

Any idea where I can buy SL (plus Ilife but without Iworks) in the UAE somewhere?

Try any Virgin Megastore, or even Sharaf DG in Ibn Batutta or Times Square.

Errr... Are there any members with a (NOT SNOW) Leopard Disc lying around...

The G5 PPC seems to require a re-install and our disc seems to have been lost or misplaced. I have snow-leopard but that's obviously not going to work due to the lack of an intel processor.
Nothing available from iStyle...

Tips, tricks or assistance will be greatly appreciated.
