Site updates - moving host

I cancelled moving to new hosting provider some weeks ago because I had problems with restoring the database. That's been worked out now so I'll try again this weekend. As before this involves a DNS change so the site may be unavailable for a day or so and it'll be different for different users. We do this to get a more reliable host and room to grow in the future. The site is growing not just in users but also in files and database: right now we're looking at about 4GB of disk space and 400MB of database.

I've also put in an order for a customer vBulletin skin but that won't come until we've upgraded to vB 4.0.

Guys, the site is backing up as we speak, first FTP the files then the database. Once FTP is done I will close the site, backup the DB, download it, upload it to the new host and the guys there will restore it for me. Then it's time to switch the DNS to new host and hopefully we'll be up and running

Seems new site is up and working. Even after uploading everything I had some issues but vbSEO support helped me sort it out. In the process I updated to latest vbSEO, which is a good thing.

I'm sure that over the next few days there'll be more issues. I'll try to do my best to work them out.

I think it does as well and it actually should as we've moved to much improved hosting. Actually pay about as much as before but have more space, more bandwidth and yes, faster hosting too.

I hope the time and money invested will pay off along with upgrade to vBulletin 4 and new skin when it comes out.
