Our hosting is actually in the US, East Coast, I believe. So browsing in from the US should be faster.

Well, as I said I really have no technical knowledge with regard to this topic. I haven't experienced it here although there are times when my Yahoo! is very slow to download.
I don't think it's anything anyone would expect you to have any control over. Maybe it's related to high-traffic?
