My first post

Hi everyone,
Well this is my first post and I am really glad to have met Magnus today and learn about EM.
I would have never guessed something like this existing here...I hope I don't get addicted to the forums

Anyhow, I thought it would be good to have a thread for what people would like to see from Apple or software developers. I for one would be interested in an app that used the iSight camera. For instance, Delicious Library uses the camera for someone to be able to keep track of all their books, dvds, music cds -- and it's great!

However, I would like someone to build an app that could allow me to record all my business cards and make it easier for me to trace data like emails and mobile numbers, etc.

Just an idea.

CH

welcome to the lions den...

Hey Chicco,

welcome to our little home on the WWW.

Not sure if you have seen one of these or not, but Iris make a business card scanner which is compatible with Apple Mac. You can out put the scan results to entourage or Address Book How address book stores contacts in a vcard format and also is ldap compliant.

I think the app you are seeking is spotlight - and in Leopard it will get a lot cooler.

spotlight supports ldap based searches so you when you search you should be able to find the contacts that you want provided they are in the addressbook or your mail app.

You should also go looking for spotlight plugins...
Neolight - Allows you to index open office files so spot light can hunt through their meta data when doing a search.
google importer - Will allow you search google as well using spotlight
Delicious - WIll allow you to search your del. lib.
delimport - allows spotlight to index and hunt through your del.icio.us book marks!

hope this helps
