IT works fine on Safari 3.0.3

If you look at the bottom of same page you shall notice their message that says "Cabin Crew Portal works best with Internet Explorer(IE) ver 5.5 or above"

Yeah some sites are just made for windows.
Actually today I was in Festival City and tried to connect to their wifi.
Nothing happened on Firefox.

At first I tried Safari and it would start to load the page then turn off (Safari not the Mac)
Then I tried a little later and neither Safari nor Firefox would connect.
Eventually I gave up.

We have some Emirates cabin crew on the site, let's see what they have to say.

hey Fang -
Could you get internet access ? or were you just getting not getting http traffic ? wifi should not care regardless of web browser - As the web browser is layer 7, anything below it such as your wifi connection should not matter - it is ubiquitous.

I think it would be the system they use for login. If I remember right, iZone doesn't like Safari.

Dan,
you are correct. I did get a wifi connection. But nothing after that.

Magnus,
I came to the same conclusion as u did. The question is why did it shutdown Safari in the beginning and then stop responding at all? Also, it wouldn't work on Firefox either.
And of course, since I couldn't log in the service wouldn't work for anything else (I need Mail at the time)
More of Du's great service.
More like "Du Not!"

Hi ncbastos,

I am a pilot from Emirates and I use a MacBook.
There are several Emirates sites, it helps if we know where exactly are the problems.
The story I heard is:
Emirates plans its sites for IE and Java.
Since IE lost it support on Macs a lot of Mac users at Emirates are having trouble.
In my MacBook I use Netscape, under MacOS X (the closest to IE) to access my company mailbox and other simple features of the main flight crew portal.
For advanced sites, like the TRIPS or Groupworld that lies under "Web Application", most other people uses Windows XP running behind Bootcamp, Parallels or VMWare (my case), although even I cannot access TRIPS, still dont know why...
For such sites I use Emirates Kiosks or computers at CBC and at trainning centers.
I plan to get the U$200 laptop in China as soon as they release it just to run company stuff...

Ouuch… is it so bad to use a Mac in this part of the world? If you boot into Windows from Bootcamp you should have a fully working Windows platform and should be able to enjoy all that Windows users are having.

Looks like we (Mac & LInux user Group(s)) should be lobbying Mercator for more / greater support for Open Source. If you are using an Intel Apple Mac you could always download wine, and compile it for your platform and run I.E in Wine.
