    Windows xp sysvxd.exe

Hi there i have a PC that has windows XP home edition version 2002 SP3. And when i try to shut down or restart there is a window that pops up with the message:
End Program- C:|WINDOWS|Sysvxd.exe and it says windows cannot end this program and so on and it pops up like 5 times and i have to click end now all 5 times for my pc to shut down. Does anyone know how to get rid of this? thanks

This is malware, a browser hijacker, or redirect virus, known to appear under various file names...

You can run e.g. Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and delete it.

(You should really install some good anti-virus and anti-malware software...)

thanks for your reply michl! I installed malwarebytes and removed the malware from my pc and now when i try to shut down it doesn't show that pop up message does not show up anymore. I am investing in anti-virus now to prevent that from happening again. Thanks

    Glad you got it fixed.

Here's a 'must read' on how to secure your pc - also includes lists of Best Free Antivirus Software, Adware/Spyware/Scumware Remover, Trojan Scanner/Trojan Remover, Rootkit Scanner/Remover, Firewall, etc.
