The problem is that Cheetah is taken:
Mac OS X Public Beta "Kodiak"
Mac OS X v10.0 "Cheetah"
Mac OS X v10.1 "Puma"
Mac OS X v10.2 "Jaguar"
Mac OS X v10.3 "Panther"
Mac OS X v10.4 "Tiger"
Mac OS X v10.5 "Leopard"
Mac OS X v10.6 "Snow Leopard"
Frankly... I thnk Cheetah is more in line with Apple's image - fast, sleek and mysterious rather than big and lazy.

Well, given Steve Job's close relationship with the movie industry, we might get "Cheetah II The Return"![]()

2 Michl,
I agree with you point about clouds and way the entire industry going to be. Probably on top of Google OS Apple will create something mashable and cloudy.) Time will tell
/* all these things we'll one day swallow whole and fade out again and fade out again....
While on the subject or names, here's an interesting find on
Where OS X 'Big Cat' code names REALLY come from.
Shaye 200 Series Mac-clones, circa 1997:
Lion, Panther, Tiger, Leopard, Jaguar, Puma, Cheetah, Lynx.

Hi every one.
What about if I want to upgrade my Leopard become Snow Leopard using the DVD installer.
Is there any problem will be come up after the upgrading process?
Still looking some information bout it and once I got clear I would love to rock n roll with the Snow Leopard.
Any way I have Mac OSX with the latest version 10.5.8.
Thank guys and plz give me some feed back.
Basquiat,
Please look at the system requirements for Snow Leopard at Apple - Mac OS X Snow Leopard - Technical specifications
As long as your computer meets them you should be ok.
But keep in mind before upgrading to Snow Leopard it is best to repair disk permissions and to check your directory by booting to Leopard install disk and running Repair Disk under Disk utility to make sure that your directory is not corrupted.
Also keep in mind before you upgrade to Snow Leopard if there are any third party applications that you use they have a compatible version for Snow Leopard or make sure there are no non-compatiblity issue.
Please read :
Mac OS X v10.6: About incompatible software
Other than that you should be good!!
Hope this helped.
It is not clear how up-to-date this Apple page is... Snow Leopard has been out for a while and by now most software has been updated (unless not supported anymore).
Both MacInTouch and the Snow Leopard Compatibility wikidot sites are much more comprehensive and up-to-date UMO.
Cheers,
-Michl
