Apple releases battery firmware update for some MacBook Pros

Ok guys being an avid ZDnet Blogs viewer, here is another one that caters to Apple:

Apple late on Wednesday released Battery Update 1.3 for all versions of the 15-inch MacBook Pro notebooks. According to the company, the update does not affect the 17-inch MacBook Pro nor the 13-inch MacBook.

The related Apple info document said that the update addresses battery performance issues for the machines.

Online reports said that battery health figures improved by as much as 50 percent based on readings of system monitoring software such as iSlayer.com’s iStat application. In addition, users said that battery performance was better.

In addition, for folks who keep their notebooks plugged in all day long (like me) and don’t exercise the battery, Apple recommends charging and discharging its battery at least once per month. They offer an iCal reminder for that task here.
