    Vista's inspiration

I finally bought my first Mac 1.5 months ago, from a guy selling them really cheap. The irony is that I bought it just after getting certified by Microsoft to work on Windows Server 2003!

It's a PowerMac G4 MDD and looks like this, and weighs a ton:

It has OS X Leopard 10.5.6 with a gazillion screensavers I've downloaded.

It's a breeze to use, and I've upgraded the RAM to 2GB, and after using it for a few days, I realized what a rip-off Vista really is, from the windows, to the buttons, to the Object Dock. I've put it on my home LAN, and enabled Remote Desktop.

This might sound weird...but I can't stop ejecting my DVDROM from my keyboard, why couldn't M$ think of something like this?

All in all, an excellent investment!

Seems like COMPLETE B/S man. The irony is .... this is VERY VERY OLD iMac with PowerPC processor and most probably incompatible with all recent apps. So i have big doubt about...

BS? What's BS? I haven't installed any app, just screensavers. And it works perfectly fine.

You can be a bit more courteous in your comments "Most probably incompatible with all recent apps"? Hardly... if it can run 10.5.6 it can run a lot if not most of "recent apps" however we want to define that. And what's ironic about an old Mac still being very useful? You mean the title "Vista's inspiration"?

It's a Power Mac G4 (mirrored doors) right? Should be perfectly useful for lots of things still. I have an older PowerMac G4 that is still going strong. Mine is not able to run Leopard though as the CPU is below requirements even though it's a DP model.

Thank you Magnus. Btw, I'm Darthoz on tbreak (I've seen you there defending iPhones ). And why would I BS about such a thing? I'm a Windows PC overclocking and modding enthusiast (not a pro, mind you) but took the Mac dive due to the price. I absolutely love my Mac, a shame about the Geforce MX card tho.

Good to see you over here too!

You'll probably find your Mac a bit old/restrictive if it's modding you want to do, especially since it's not Intel. But there's lots you can do with it though, these are still very good machines.

Thanks M. This one's a keeper, it's a dual proc with 873 Mhz per proc, but its soooo smooth, and fast and responsive. Wonder why Intel couldn't figure this out earlier!

    Thumbs down

Mac OS X v10.5 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I called this B/S simply because u called ages old machine a perfect investment and running smooth on such old junk, hm.... maybe u run only screen-savers on it, then i'll believe.

Also in general, investment into IT hardware is worst investment u can even made, but investment into OLD technology with no support from apple, shrinking market share for applications (yep more and more apps are intel only), is absolutely insane.

If you buy it as a toy for kids then its fine....

BS for you, a perfect investment for me. It didn't cost me much, and I only bought it for messing around with, I'm still a hardcore Windows user. It took you a month and a half to come up with that reply eh? Pity.
