Camera lens from Amazon!!

I just happen to get my first shufflegazine from Festival city!! its a great mag for the price tag!!
I happen to read that regarding the cost of the camera lens which is lot cheaper to buy online.
I would like to know if it is better to buy Nikon camera lens online from sites like amazon.uk ( I hope there will be no tax/duties when it arrvies in dubai) and it will be delivered safely!

I've bought many things from many sellers in the US mainly and never really had any problems with safe shipping, shipping directly with courier company or to US box with Aramex. Paying taxes once it arrives in UAE seems a bit of hit and miss, sometimes you have too, often you don't have to. The courier company typically pays the duty and then charge you that cash once they deliver.

One thing to consider is warranty. If you buy Nikon stuff from Amazon.com, for example, you won't be covered under warranty in UAE. This is different for different brands though so do a bit of research on that. Apple, for example, has worldwide warranty.

Likewise, I have purchased a number of items from Amazon in the US and had them shipped via Aramex shop and ship service with no problem including a Canon 50d camera body. International warranty is valid and the package arrived safely, but I was charged additional tax on arrival plus I had to provide a copy of my passport to Aramex to clear the item through customs, this added 2 days to the delivery schedule.

Ultimately I still saved a lot of cash.

Just for reference, If you know any one who is heading to Singapore, camera lenses can be purchased there even cheaper, I saved over 2,000 AED on a wide angle zoom lens compared to the cheapest one available in DXB!
