I use paypal sometimes and last i checked safari web browser was on their blacklist. They said it wasnt as safe as IE or Firefox. They even discouraged from using Opera.
Erm, that's not quite true, Bushako, Safari is the most standards-compliant browser out there - even more so than Opera. It's perfectly safe for internet banking.
The problem is many sites are not built compliant to HTML standards, mostly because the designer has to make them work for IE 5 & 6. The new IE observes the standards much better, so things should improve for the rest of us over the next couple of years, as people are forced to shape up their HTML to allow compliance with newer versions of IE.

That second link doesn't say Safari is to blame, but it does quote Paypal.
But you need to understand that Safari's vulnerability is specifically in phising.
Which in most cases can be averted by what I like to call CSC (Common Sense Computing).
In that if you use dodgy sites, you will get dodgy outcomes.
Also, I believe that issue was a problem in 3.0, not 4.0.
Stay hungry. Stay Foolish.
The Barclays decision not to support Safari was taken due to timelines in launching the Internet Banking product. The out of the box software that runs the Internet front end was not certified with Safari. Going forward there were no complaints in the UAE or any other Emerging Market country from customers demanding use of Safari and so regionally Barclays have not gone for certification on Safari
