Erm, that's not quite true, Bushako, Safari is the most standards-compliant browser out there - even more so than Opera. It's perfectly safe for internet banking.

The problem is many sites are not built compliant to HTML standards, mostly because the designer has to make them work for IE 5 & 6. The new IE observes the standards much better, so things should improve for the rest of us over the next couple of years, as people are forced to shape up their HTML to allow compliance with newer versions of IE.

Must have been a while ago. I've been using paypal in Safari since I first moved to the UK in 2001.

Also in accordance to these various sources who all seem to pint in the same direction.

Safari unsafe for PayPal | OnSoftware

Browsers - PayPal: Safari Not Among 'Unsafe Browsers' - eWeek Security Watch

Update: but yea i could be wrong, these sources are old and Apple might have implemented more security features such as anti phishing and such

    @bushako
That second link doesn't say Safari is to blame, but it does quote Paypal.
But you need to understand that Safari's vulnerability is specifically in phising.
Which in most cases can be averted by what I like to call CSC (Common Sense Computing).
In that if you use dodgy sites, you will get dodgy outcomes.
Also, I believe that issue was a problem in 3.0, not 4.0.

The Barclays decision not to support Safari was taken due to timelines in launching the Internet Banking product. The out of the box software that runs the Internet front end was not certified with Safari. Going forward there were no complaints in the UAE or any other Emerging Market country from customers demanding use of Safari and so regionally Barclays have not gone for certification on Safari

Dodo does Barclays' website block safari, or just not support it? Does it actually work on safari?

Safari has had anti-phishing and extended validation for security certificates since v3.2.

    LOL! Any Barclays customers here?

Or maybe one should therefor assume either
a)Barclays customers do not use Macs,
    or
b)mac users do not use Barclays...
