    external hard disk-new folder creating

I tried to create a new folder in my USB hard disk which was used by Windows and i was unable to create. I read that i need to format my USB hard disk by MAC using the disk utility so that i can use it in both MAC and Windows? is this true?

Mac OS X cannot write to NTFS. If the drive is formatted NTFS it won't work, it has to be FAT. You can format it with Mac or PC, doesn't matter which, but the format has to be right.

Paragon NTFS for Mac helps me read and write NTFS Partitions.
    It is not free.

NTFS-3G installs MacFUSE (posted by venky83) with it, so that users don't have to download two different packages to get read/write NTFS support working. It is free.

As suggested by Venky; This is what is written.
NTFS is a proprietary file system and any non-native access method may result in data loss or make the partition unbootable. You have been warned!!

i looked at Paragon website and i think i might go ahead with it

I had installed the software and when i restarted it the MAC did not even start. I had to start the system using the Command button. This happened soon after i installed. Later i removed it.
    Has anyone faced such problems?

Sorry vineetushan, I did not face any such problems after installing Paragon NTFS for Mac OSX.
