Hi vineeth there are 2 possible options for you

1. If you are using only mac and not using or sharing to windows, back up your data and change the partition of external HD to Mac format (FAT)
2. If you want to use both Mac & Windows i will suggest you to use "Paragon NTFS" i am using it since my mac came to me, no problem good software...

For those interested, with Snow Leopard it is possible to write to NTFS natively i.e. without third-party software like Paragon or Google Fuse...
