Question What to go for "data package" or "blackberry" service

    Hello friends,

This is my first post here and I'm looking for answer,

As I wrote on the topic title, I'm going to precise either service from Etisalat. But I'm little worried what is better..

I'm looking for mobile internet browser, email service, msn/chat, applications, and little phone use

If I went for blackberry I go for bold or storm?
And if I get data package what good phone to use, Sony Ericsson X1, Nokia e71 or you gays know better brand?

Also, what is the different on speed browsing between blackberry and data package service (on phone)

    And thx in advance :P

    Kool name.
Hope it keeps you safe from the mob

If what you need is online access, then nothing in the UAE competes with the Blackberry.
Download speeds are the same, regardless of which phone you buy.

    Thx mate for replay,

Yesterday I sit with friend and asked him which service to get, he told me get data package with Sony Ericcson x1 or HTC touch HD. And this will be much better than blackberry bold, incase of:
    - Better browser, bcoz I can’t brows some websites on BB bold (hmmm?)
    - faster browsing on data package
    - email service same as BB bold
    - better phone, (Sony Ericcson x1 or HTC touch HD are better than BB bold?)
    - better OS (windows mobile) for more applications I can install in the phone
    - phone can be used as modem with data package
    - screen is big (I don’t care too much)
    - bold can’t run all media types, but windows mobile can
    - better camera

    any ideas about these points?

If you travel... get Blackberry, period. AED295/m unlimited data internationally. Cannot be beat at present in UAE.

If you want to compare the devices, then yes.
    You are right.

But the data plan for a regular phone is expensive and limited.
For BB is reasonably priced and unlimited access.

In the end, its a matter of what you need?
I personally, don't use a data plan, and have an iPhone.

Let me add that while being in San Francisco for Macworld I've missed my iPhone and the data functionality a lot. I have my Bold with me and the international data plan so using it is fine, but not having a similar plan on iPhone I've not used it but with Wi-Fi. I'm so used to be able to tweet, check email, web, etc from anywhere with my iPhone 3G and it's hard being without it.

Any thoughts on why you can't get an international data package for the iPhone but you can for BB? Is there something about the data in the background that allows carriers to do agreements for data sharing on the BB that wouldn't work for other smartphones?

I also carry around two devices. I travel every week for work and need mobile email, so the BB is kind of a no-brainer, but I'm not willing to give up my iPhone because it just does more.

Is there any hope that this will change in our lifetimes?

@kynddaze Sadly, there is no hope for that to happen.
The BB service is part of a global network that RIM supports, and possibly subsidizes.
Unless Apple does something like that, it won't happen.
And I doubt that will happen, because the iPhone is very data-centric, so it consumes a lot more than any other phone out there.
