Interesting setup.
Albeit a bit confusing.

I don't get how/why marketing analysis will be putting up such an infrastructure that opens up its research to a mass public.

Still, it looks very enticing.
I look forward to seeing this unfold both from a marketing and technical standpoint.
Marketing is my trade, and techs are my passion.

Welcome to the site, and good luck with the venture.

Hmm, sounds interesting, but just a query .. How could applescript and python go hand in hand ? apple script is object oriented but a lesser form of cocoa, where as python is OO too but a much sophisticated language than applescript. Then again, i am not sure if both could be integrated at all. I say go for cocoa all the way. Integrating two languages is a pain while you go into pilot or debug mode of development. Hence sticking to one language, can be a lot useful and a lot faster (processing wise)

Seems like a webserver you are trying to set up, from the apps you mentioned after ? Again, the SSL, two factor etc are all server based and third-party, like say creditcards. You really dont need any setup for these, just integration. SSL then is a completely different scenario. Some people use SSL and not two factor, which is very common here on the internet, but banks and financial infrastructures use both where security is life and death, and there are a few places that would use only a simple password (without SSL) and use two factor to make it stronger. Since you are going into analytical marketing, i'd suggest SSL only, cost wise.

Hope you enjoy your stay here, and let us know how far you come along, seems pretty interesting what you are getting into

The guy mentions Applescript + Ruby/Python, im not sure what he meant, but I know there is RubyOSA that kind of connects Ruby to AppleScript

We are planning to shift our corporate headquarters by the middle of August, and we need a systems implementer to shift the entire organisation on to an OS X based platform. The premise behind this is pretty simple, the top management team already use and like OS X, and the way forward with Vista looks bleak. We do not use any proprietary software aside from Oracle Financials, which is accessed through the browser and is installed on a Red Hat Linux backend. We expect all our future software to be in someway accessed through a browser (SaaS) or be OS X compatible.

Our requirements are:
  • We want an implementer who has worked on prior projects, preferably on a larger scale than ours.
  • Our plan is to pilot the shift with three to four users.
  • Our initial user base will be fifteen to twenty users.
  • This will expand over the next six to twelve months to thirty plus users.
  • After sales support in terms of an AMC needs to be discussed.
  • The extent of your support mechanisms need to be assessed
  • User data migration and training is also a consideration.
  • Possible usage of Xserves on the backend.

To date we have spoke to Computer Direct Access, and ProTechnology. Unfortunately the response from both of them has not been very good.

Any help that anyone can provide would be much appreciated.

Regards,

Omar Kassim
omar,

is this being done already? did someone help you in your transition?
