Welcome to the site! Could you describe some of your background/experience in Macs?
hello emiratesmac
I am more experienced to Directory Services of Apple (Open Directory and WorkGroup), networking and some XSAN. I am more experience configuring xserve Services.
current: Ubuntu 11.04
past: Mac OS X
i love this guy alreadyi might just ask u to come configure my 10 Xserves that i might buy in the Future for my new Office at home
j/K but i would love to buy on and just put it in a glass container and just stair at it every day
it think they are the coolist looking Servers ever and its price is reasonable.. i might just think of buying on in the coming future after leopard comes out and every single one of my family has an iPhone and a Mac computer in his/her room

hello Appleholic,
I'd love to come and help to my best of my knowledge. Hope I could find a job there. Yes! they are the coolest servers that I've eveer seen. It is more even cooler when you try to put the xserves and xserve RAIDs in one rack, put it on a dark server room which geeks drooled over. You will be amaze of the lights of it!

maccebu,
I second your opinion on the pretty lights effect. We run Xserves and have a big XGRID implentation. Unfortunately we have it locked away in a cupboard, actually the server room so no one gets to see it but a few of us.
If you are looking for Mac related jobs then I recommend you start with Media and News companies. I know of a couple of companies that do Apple Mac solutions but they target media and design companies and don;t tend to implement grids or serves.
(Trimedia in DIC) do a lot of consulting for news companies and would probably be the ones that you might want to take a look at. These guys implement Xserves and Grids and consult on business workflow (purely on a media level however).
You might also try speaking apple Middle East as well. Usually the way bug business works in Dubai (i.e. ministries etc) they only want to deal with the vendor and not a VAR or Sys integrator. So approaching them directly might also be a good idea. Speaking to tv stations might also be of benefit.
Registering with companies like clarendon and Parker, the Better Business Bureau and head hunting companies like Ingram & Kershaw Leonard would also be a plan.
hope this helps

hello dandantheitman,
This is really a big help of me, mentioning companies, i will google search on this on their website and see if there is a recruitment section. Im just hoping that they would reply to one of my applications. Thanks really really a lot man!
Though i've tried applying to these colleges in QATAR as mentioned by Zaid Al Hilali
Virginia Commonwealth University
Weill Cornell Medical College
they replied to me and said that my resume will be on their database for a year and if there's available postion they will call me. Not bad at all.
By the way dadantheitman need to ask you a question?
what are the application that will connect and use the xgrid services you got there?
'cause we've tried setting here an XGRID service with mac mini's, G4's & G5's as the co-processor, our main problem here is how to incorporate it to the application MAYA and Final Cut Pro. Sad thing is, i just only heard this though, that you have to know a lot of scripts and we don't know where to start.

Can't really provide you with a lot of help on this one for the Maya implementation with scripts however, I could give you an apple approved work around. Which will resolve all of your headaches and works for both Maya and Final Cut Pro.
I do use applescripts but only from a system admin point of view. If you are familiar with Linux then this is akin to BASH scripting. Should you have random questions about scripting or have a script involving system admin that you want me to give you a hand with then I can help you a lot more.
Now back to the apple OSX Render farm issue.
Have you already got your Xgrid Configured?
The Xgrid can either be configured by the CLS using the xgridctl command or you can use a third app like visual hub. Alternative you can use Tiger own Xgrid utility, on 10.3 you will have to download the client. The xgrid agent is configured in shares / services / Xgrid. When you enable this share you need to configure it. The primary Xgrid server should be configured first. the xgrid service will either let you specify the server or hunt for it. If you hunt then it will use Bonjour / Rendezvous to go find the Xgrid controller. It uses Multicast DNS so should your primary server be on another IP range or subnet then it will go hunt for it! (As long as you have your routing configured correctly. ARP will let you know if that is the case) YOu also have an option for authentication if you don't choose authentication then there is a chance that someone else can "steal" your node and use it for their own xgrid purposes, the xgrid client also runs over the internet so this is a very real possibility.
I am going to assume your Xgrid and your Xraid is already set up and running ? if not post back to the list and we shall go from there.
To install Apple scripting do the following:
The first to configuring your apple script is essentially turning it on.
To install the Script Menu, launch the Install Script Menu application located in the AppleScript folder in the Applications folder - there is also a removal tool. DO you guys have Apple script studio ? If not go ahead and install Xcode.
Here is my work around for you for the rendering farm, which will work for either the final cut studio or the Maya.
(01) Ensure that your Xgrid is configured and attached to your fibre switch (there are only a few vendors whom apple support for this, Cisco will do fine. After this you need to configure your XRAID and your metadata controller (Xserves or mac minis with OSX server installed will work. I recommend an Xserve for the primary and a mac mini for the redundent).
(02) Once you have the Xserve and Xgrid implemented and working you need to head over over to your favourite apple store and buy Shake. Initially apple included Qmaster (its render farm software) in with its apps such final cut pro studio etc. Then apple separated it from the apps and created a third party application called shake. Shake is certified to run with both Maya and Final Cut Pro studio. After installing Shake you shall need to build your shake node tree which you will need to add all of your macs to so that they can all help render. When rendering however shake is a lot faster from the command line that it is from the GUI. (please see the aside note below) However I have next to no knowledge on shake scripts and what you would do. I could aid with script syntax but not with the script itself. Apple do sell training DVDs, so if you don;t want to go to a training centre then this is a cheaper approach.
In a side note apple makes a version of shake that runs on Linux, so that you could incorporate linux boxes into your render farm. Cheap dell intel boxes with fibre cards are probably the way to go to increasing your server farms rendering speeds. ALthough I can buy dual processor G5 Xservers with 1gb Ram, 80gb Hard drives and 10.4 OSX boxes for about $1600 at the moment which is not to shabby.
Good luck, and let me know if there is anything else that I can help you with.
