    Problems Syncing Smart Playlists

I am having a problem syncing a smart playlist to my iPhone. I have the playlist set up in iTunes for the top 50 most played songs, when checking the play count it seems to be working fine. When I drag and drop it to my iPhone it goes on fine, when I click on the playlist in my iPhone it is different to my iTunes playlist. This I understand is that the play counts do not sync so there are different play counts for the iPhone & iTunes. The play count in the iPhone playlist seem to be correct (I can't be sure but the top songs seem to be the ones I listen to a lot) However when I eject the iPhone and go to the playlist the songs are completely different to all other playlists and do not correspond to anything?

I have tried deleting and replacing it but the same problem, when checking some of the songs play counts some have only been played once.

I have no problem with this playlist on my iPod though.

    Any suggestions?

It seems you're not the only one.

In fact it appears that the iTunes 9 update broke smart playlists sync - again. This issue has been on and off since 2007 and Apple hasn't found the fix yet.

One workaround suggested in several places is to turn off live updating (in edit smart playlists). But then you'll need to refresh manually...
    Cheers,
