Urgent: iPhone OS 3.1.1 - Read BEFORE Updating!!

Apple has launched the long awaited update for the iPhone 3.0 OS.
It adds a handful of small features, and is necessary to benefit from iTunes 9 new features.

It is NOT clear yet if it resolves the problems that came with OS 3.0 (battery consumption, heat, connectivity loss, etc..).

What is clear at this stage is that locked phones should NOT update via iTunes.
This update completely disables Redsn0w, possibly FOREVER.
To update you must ONLY use the Dev Teams Pwnage Tool.

If you have updated your locked phone already, you will need to find a "Turbo SIM" (also called "Hyper SIM") that is compatible with 3.1.1.
This will take some time to hit the market.
My estimate is it will cost around 200 AED.

Please note this is the reason an unlocked phone is better and more expensive than a locked phone. And is the risk you took when cutting costs.

Hopefully, this will be revolved soon.
Please do not post questions on how to unlock your phone if you have done this.

iPhone OS 3.1 and iPod Touch OS 3.1.1

Reading news all over the web, it did confuse me in the morning, so thought i'd clarify this for upcoming questions

I'll give 3.1 a shot when i go home. Hopefully they should have fixed the battery issues mainly on the 3GS. Its a nightmare keeping the phone running for a max 1 and half day straight without charge.
    PowerPC - Upgraded to G3, Mac Mini - 1.83GHz, iPod Touch 1st Gen - 8GB,
    iPhone 3GS - 32GB, iMac - 2.66GHz, Mac Book Pro 17inch - 2.5GHz, Apple Nike+

yes please anyone confirm if this solved some of those everheating and battery life issues.
If it solves then ill definetly upgrade even if that means losing all my jailbroken apps...other than that i dont really see any need to upgrade...

Have updated my iPod to 3.1.1 no problems. I had heard on MacBreak Weekly they there was a $5 charge for iPods, which pissed me off. But seems there wasn't any charge. Only reported problem I can give is that the scroll on podcasts is very sticky! Also I don't see what else there is for the iPod except the Safari anti phishing alert.

Exclamation Network problem in 3.1OS on the 3gs

    I wanna confirm(for the iphone 3gs)

I recently bought the standalone iphone 3gs from etisalat and am having problems with the network.

Is anyone out there getting a drop in the network when one puts the phone down?...I think this is an issue with the 3.1OS.The phone works fine when u r on the move but once kept sitting shows no service.Does anyone get this problem?

I think upgrading to 3.1.2 solves this issue but then I have not tried it cause they say then there is no possibility of a jailbreak when running 3.1.2.

    Any Solutions??.

    Regards,
    Nazir Khan
