How to: enable battery percentage meter!

Ok you guys have probably seen the option to enable the battery percentage meter on the iPhone 3Gs. Although a useful feature unfortunately Apple had not included this option for the iPhone 3G even through the OS3.0 update, leaving us out in the dark...to rot..sigh* Where were we? Oh yea the battery percentage meter. Well fear not because Vista user is here to help, lol.

Long story short with a little bit of tweaking i was able to get the battery percentage enabled on my iphone 3G, ofcourse with the help of google. Read on for the instructions.

    What you will need:

    1) A jailbroken iPhone
    2)Disk Aid(for PC) and DiskAid(for Mac)14days trial.
    3)USB cable
4)Winzip or Winrar or any application to extract .zip file.
    5)Guts! Just messing!

    Instructions:

    1) Connect your iphone to your computer with the USB cable(doesn't matter if itunes is open or close)

2)Start the DiskAid program(make sure its up to date) and go to

    System/Library/CoreServices/Springboard.app/

3)Browse through the content and locate M68AP.plist, save it somewhere on the computer as a back up then delete it from the directory.

3)Download the file below M68AP.zip onto your deskop and extract the file.

4)Upload the file i have provided in the same directory.

    5) Next disconnect your iphone and just reboot your device and you will see the option in Settings/General/Usage.

Now you can have a piece of the action. And in case you don't want this feature anymore simply copy back the backed up file from your computer and replace this file from the directory in step 2.

Very cool. I hadn't seen that yet. I'll definitely give it a bash as next time I jailbreak! I had a quick poke around the .plist file, very interesting... Might get back into jailbreaking soon, especially if they sort out that video recording and editing on iPhone 3g that I read about... Right now you can enable the video editing, but it disables the camera, so pretty useless!

well for the time being i have resorted to Cycoder from Cydia(Saurik) for Video recording. It does alright with somewhere 10-15FPS.
