How to enable carrier testing mode in iTunes

i tried the carrier settings change with the1.5 ipcc and everything went well. i disabled cellular data but am unable to receive incoming calls or sms. i have the new iphone 3gs...any suggestions?

I have an iPhone 3G. Factory Unlocked. Running ver. 3.0 firmware. I ran the above carrier update. I use an Etisalat GSM SIM Card. After running the update, which went fine, got the Etisalat logo with the green wings etc. Then just to see if all was well, I used my du SIM Card in the Phone to check if the phone was still unlocked. After doing this I put back my Etisalat SIM in the iPhone.. my problem is that now, I can't get the 'du' Logo to change back to Etisalat, when I put back the Etisalat SIM. All the services etc. are all indicating that the Etisalat SIM is registered with the network. I can make and receive call, but I can't get rid of the du logo. I did all the resets and reinstalls. Short of doing a full restore, which I would prefer to avoid..
Any suggestions what went wrong..
Its possible there is a bug in the update. I wonder if anyone else has had / solved this problem..
Would appreciate your help guys..

Hi there gierran. I recently purchased an iphone 3gs 32gb from australia which was factory unlocked and i used it just fine for a few days when i started bein told i didnt have enough credit on my fone while i tried to make a fone call. Which is not true because i did have enough and more credit in my fone to make a fone call ..could u please tell me what i need to do exactly in order to stop this from ever happening again ...by the way ...i am running the new 3.1 software ..

i have even followed ur instructions and installed etisalat_ae_v1.6.zip after having restored my iphone with a virgin install ...only thing that i havent yet seen is the internet tethering toggle ...everything else including the cellular data network and the logo i have got ....

i dont even know if this has anything to do with the problem of the credit ....but im jst trying to do whatever i can to fix it ....

Please help me and tell me what i need to do to stop this from happening ....it is sooo annoying

On a Mac:
1. Quit iTunes
2. Launch Terminal in Application>Utilites
3. Copy and paste the following command into the Terminal window:

defaults write com.apple.iTunes carrier-testing -bool TRUE

4. Press Return and quit Terminal
5. Connect your iPhone and click to launch iTunes from the dock.
6. Select your iPhone from the list of devices on the left, then hold down the Option key and select "Check for Update."
7. Select your .ipcc file.


On a PC:
1. Quit iTunes
2. Press Windows Key + R to open the run dialog. Type "cmd" then click OK to launch the command prompt
3. Copy and paste the following command into the Command Prompt window.

"C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunes.exe" /setPrefInt carrier-testing 1

4. Press Return and close the Command Prompt window.
5. Connect your iPhone and click to launch iTunes from your Start Menu.
6. Select your iPhone from the list of devices on the left, then hold down the Shift key and select "Check for Update"
7. Select your .ipcc file.

and I want to get the logo of eitsalat and the cellular data network without Jail Break ...
is it possible ?
by the way, this method didn't worked with me ... I still can't see the "ipcc" file when I hold shift and click on check update ... ( I followed the steps )

You can find the "Check for Update" button in the Summary pane when you click on your iPhone icon within iTunes.

BTW: to get out of DFU mode all you have to do is power the iPhone off and then back on.

I have tried the same method but it it is not working in iPohone 3GS with OS 4.01. Is there any new/updated ipcc file ?

Hi Gierran... its been long for me to be in this thread. i got Iphone2g i have updated with 3.1.2 and jailbreak with Black rain so there is no Cydia in it. and i've itunes 10.3.1 in Windows 7. I need to install carrier settings in it to block Data plan/ Edge in it. i've tried the command "%ProgramFiles%\iTunes\iTunes.exe" /setPrefInt carrier-testing 1 getting error and .ipcc file also not getting loaded please help me .... thanks in advance.
