Importing contacts from imate

Bought iphone 3g yesterday in Dubai. I had imate previously. Now I want to transfer my contacts to iphone. I used Microsoft ActiveSync to sync with my outlook 2007. How do I import my contacts into iphone? Any help will be appreciated. thanks

Hi Mackw - welcome to the forum!

You sync your contacts to your phone using iTunes. Because you mentioned Outlook, I'm assuming you use Windows.

1. Open iTunes and connect your iPhone to the computer.

2. Select your iPhone on the left pane.

3. Click the Info tab toward the top of the screen.

4. Under the Contacts section, turn on Sync contacts from Outlook.

5. Click Apply and you’re done.

Okay, first I am a total novice. I have been reading the posts about OS 3.0 and going crazy. I have never used apple before (though wife has an apple and she, for good measure, does not let me near it!)

the phone I bought this saturday is 3G 8GB from etisalat. I live in Kuwait. So when I came back to Kuwait, I am using Zain Kuwait sim.

I am not sure whether my phone is OS 3.0 or older version. Can I install 3.0 and does not get any problems with the iphone. If yes, how do I install it? I have read on apple.com about 3.0 and I think the new features are worth having but not at the cost of getting problems. So, help will be appreciated.

the other question I have is about 3GS. Needless to say I was stupid not to wait until next month to get the newer phone. But that is past. would I be able to upgrade the 3G phone to 3GS, at least software-wise?
