Anybody with a locked 3G can now update to 3.0
The dev team has released Ultrasnow.

- Ensure you have upgraded to iPhone OS 3.0
- Jailbreak your iPhone 3G using redsn0w or PwnageTool (this will also install Cydia/Icy)
- Run Cydia or Icy
- Please add the repo repo666.ultrasn0w.com to Cydia or icy
- Search for ‘ultrasn0w’ in cydia or icy and install ultrasn0w
- Reboot your iPhone 3G

THIS DOES NOT UNLOCK THE NEW 3GS.

i did 2.2.1 to 3.0 but i cannot unlock it .. anyone can help ?? plzzz ?? i tried both du and Etisalat .. it says no sim card intalled .. i did ultrasn0w more 10 times .. no luck ... plzz help me /..

heyy guys i tried to unlock my iphone 3g 16 gb with ultrasnow it dint work..tried reinstalling many tyms still d same problem
then i tried installing it on another iphone 3g but 8 gb worked fine
but it dosent work on my 16gb iphone 3g!:-(
need helppp

Hey echu073,

I assume you are using iphone 3g, not the 1st generation one!

Are you sure you added the repo address correctly to cydia and installed ultrasnow? You need to reboot after installing ultrasnow!

PM me what have you done exactly...right from the first step.

this sounds strange. The phone should be unlocked at the first go itself. I think you need to uninstall ultrasnow from cydia, reboot, then install it again. And I assume u have put the repo address correctly. After installing, make sure to reboot again.

By the way, before I began updating to 3.0 from 2.2.1, i removed the sim, disabled hiding applications using poof, and then rebooted. And then I jailbroke, unlocked :-)

I only inserted the sim once I was in 3.0 with ultrasnow installed.

hey, posted a note on ur wall too. having the same problem as others. Does not connect to etisalat even after ultrasnow. i installed many times too. didnt get the part about disabling hiding applications. u think it makes a difference and how exactly do u do it.

Hi guys

i have tried below procedure for upgrade and unlock but not woking at ALL

1- original configuration was 2.2.1, iphone 3G 16GB
2- upgraded to 3.0 via itunes latest version. (successful)
3- jailbroken via redsnow (0.7.2) with cydia and icy. (successful)
4- i have added rep666.ultrasn0w.com and have installed ultrasn0w and i can see this in installed list. (successful)
6- disable 3G and Restarted
5- BUT NO SIGNALS (ETISALAT) NO SERVICE,AT ALL

i have tried complete procedure many time but NO SUCCESS.

could somebody help me out , Please....
