This might be a silly question but all of the model numbers listed end with "/A" .. the model no. for my iPhone doesn't .. do you know what the /A stands for?

Oddly enough, according to the chart, UAE does not offer authorized unlocking. So these iPhones that you guys have, are they really unlocked and if so how? Is Apple's website incorrect?
If you don't dare to dream, you'll always live in status quo - and we all know how boring that is!

My guess is that since Etisalat's iPhones are unlocked they don't need any unlocking service. Since you have to buy iPhone from them to get on the iPhone plan there's no need for unlocking service of non-Etisalat iPhones. I have Etisalat iPhone and it works just fine with a du SIM too meaning it's unlocked.

So am i right in thinking that if my iphone (Australian model) is unlocked without using a jailbreak, then it must have been officially unlocked?

Therefore I can update without worrying?

    Thanks.

    Sir Magnus

Are you saying there is a service in etisalat that offer to unlock the iphone?,
coz my iphone is lock becasue the update that ive that was 2.2.1 MF 2.30.03..even the yellowsnow of the Dev-team dont work, Now i update it again because the DEV-team is releasing the ultraSnow that can unlock any Version of baseband of iphone 3g only.

Definitely! If its not running on yellowsnow which you get only if your iphone is jailbroken, then its factory unlocked. Besides according to apples website the carriers in Australia do allow aurthorized unlocking which explains your factory unlocked iphone.

    Just a note.
    Etisalat's iPhones are currently unlocked.
And they won't unlock another carrier's phone even if they could.
