iTunes hangs on "verifying iPhone software" when upgrading to 2.2

I have a Jailbroken iPhone 3g 16gb. i thought of upgrading to the 2.2 firmware becuz ppl were saying that it was really good. So iTunes downloaded the firmware and when i try to install it, iTunes hangs on "verifying iPhone software". I could leave the thing for a year and nothing would change. I thought of retsarting my pc and now my iphone is on that USB thing and that iTunes icon, i think that means to restore the firmware. Now when i click on restore in iTunes, The same thing happens, hangs on verifying.......

    Plz help me fiz this......

    Hi!

Try and locate where itunes has saved the restore file.

Then attach phone to itunes. When it gives the option to restore, press shift + restore. This will open a window. Select the restore file manually from that location.

    See if that works.

Have you tried restoring to the original firmware that your phone came with? (2.0? 2.1?)

    Is your phone factory unlocked?

I have tried to restore to 2.1 but the same thing happens. And my iPhone 3G is not factory unlocked.....
As i said before, the iPhone for some reason shuts off and then starts again during the restoring......

If you can get the iPhone to the restore screen (screen showing itunes cable) then jailbreak it with quickpwn. Once the phone is jailbroken, then restore it to 2.2 from itunes. See if that works.

As i have stated above, the iPhone is already on DFU mode (that itunes and usb pic) and when i press the home and the power button together until the iPhone switchs off. And then when i switch it on again, it is back to that DFU mode.....
