    New iPhone Etisalat Logos

I saw there was a thread dedicated to these icons already, but they were messed up. It pushed the WiFi logo under the clock which sucks. Also, the instructions were for 1.1.4 and for the original iPhone. I updated and fixed the logos, and am putting instructions for the logo for the iPhone 3G 2.2. I can't guarantee this on the 1st Gen iPhone but it should be similar.

These instructions are for Windows, iPhone firmware 2.2 and done through USB.

    Before we start!

Make sure your phone is jailbroken before you try this!

    Download and install iPhoneBrowser.

    Okay - lets go!

First download the logos (Attached to the bottom of this post.)

Open up iPhoneBrowser (give it a few seconds to load all the folders and connect to your phone.)

Connect your phone to your computer via USB.

Browse to the folder /User/Library/Operator Bundle.bundle/.

Select the two PNG's called "Default_CARRIER_ETISALAT.png" and "FSO_CARRIER_ETISALAT.png". Do this by clicking on one image, holding down control, then clicking on the other image. Right click and select "Save As...". Save the images to wherever you want. This is to make double sure you have a backup of the files incase you go wrong.

Then delete the "Default_CARRIER_ETISALAT.png" and "FSO_CARRIER_ETISALAT.png" files. Do not re-spring or disconnect your phone until you have finished re-uploading the other logos as I do not know what would happen to the phone without operator images.

Now once you have unzipped the 2 new operator logos, drag and drop them into the white space of the app.

Once this is done, click on Functions at the top left of the iPhoneBrowser window, then Exit. This makes sure you exit safely.

Now it is safe to disconnect your iPhone. You need to re-spring or re-start for the logos to appear.

Here is a screen shot of my phone with the modified logos:

If you have any question just post them and I will try to get back to you ASAP!

There are equivalent software like DiskAid that does the trick. The filesystem is also the same so it's the same folders but a different GUI.

Szayat, did you update the Carrier Settings in iTunes when it asked you? You need to do this AFAIK, so that the Etisalat carrier data becomes 'etisalat' in lower case letters instead of the old 'ETIS...'.

After that, the logo should display just fine once you follow dicer999's instructions.

Woah, you have a ton of logos in there. Try deleting all of the logos then put in the modded logo's. (Back them up first!)

If your iPhone is factory unlocked, is it a Hong Kong or Italian iPhone? Maybe the two phones have different ways of operating or something. Mine is an Italian iPhone, and has only ever had my Etisalat SIM in. Haven't been on any other carriers via roaming either. You can find out by Googling the Model number (System > About).
