unlocked iPhone in Dubai Stores!

unlocked iPhone in Dubai
I'm really shocked today. I saw this @ virgin mega store, MoE. It's unlocked iPhone. I just could not ask more questions. I just asked if it is okay to take a pic!
Who is suppling them? I am sure IMC will not! Isn't it illegal item to be sold at shelfs! at the same time they are selling it @ whopping 3,890DHS.. WHAAAAAT!

Very interesting... I'm sure IMC are not happy with that. And Virgin is a major reseller too.

in Bahrain too
It's here in Bahrain too (since 2 days at a major shopping mall with 'iPhone sold HERE' signs and all) selling for 350BD (i.e. 3,500dirhams)... and yup it's the hacked version. Shocking stuff.. anyone got effected with the new iPhone update Apple put yesterday? supposedly it makes the hack and the iPhone worthless. people are already calling it 'iBrick'
on top of that, it's pure stupidity to buy one.. and I'm not talking about the ethical stuff here, just the idea that u shell out 350BD when the iPod Touch is half the price and the ONLY thing missing is the 'phone' part... and iPod Touch is double the storage capacity!! anyway, I ordered 2 from Amazon and boy am I happy

I guess people want to make a quick buck. Besides, the new iphones that are going to be released in the UAE and middle east area are going to be locked with the new firmware. So anyone who can get his hands on an unlocked iphone will be happy for a while.
