To all iPhone 4 owners in the UAE

Has anyone been able to reproduce the signal issues? If so, how bad are they? I want an iPhone 4, but this issue scares me!

    Thanks!

Well, Apple is to hold an "emergency" iPhone 4 press conference on Friday... you may want to see what they have to say.

(The video at the above link is worth watching too - Letterman's "top 10 signs you've purchased a bad iPhone" !)

Sorry I do not have one; can't answer in detail. As for Facetime, it has been covered in other threads so you may want to check there.

I don't see why 3G would be an issue. The matter of the 'antennagate' is a real problem, which IMO has been both vastly exaggerated by the media and underestimated by Apple. The truth lies somewhere in between...

Apple as posted a page dedicated to Smartphone antenna performance. Interesting read.

Also there are several technical articles on the web that explain everything from radio signals to how the two antennas on the iPhone 4 operate... This one from AppleInsider even casts some doubts on the testing process by Consumer Reports.

Of course Steve Jobs' halo is the best antenna --
    Cheers,

And while on the antennagate topic, here's another banned iPhone 4 video [YouTube].

hi everyone. Been using the iPhone4, unlocked from UK for 2 weeks now.
I didnt want to take a chance, so before it arrived i ordered a case for it. Not one of those ugly rubber one's. But a signal strength case. Its an amazing case, very light and discreet.
When i got my iphone4, the only issue i faced was Facetime, waiting to be activated.
    But all solved now

    Over the moon
This morning exactly 9.02am, conducted my 1st Facetime call with my mate.
Both off us are etisalat users.

For 2 weeks been struggling to activate it from the options menu. But it would just say, Waiting for activation.
I updated the iphone4 few days back and never rebooted (restarted it). Thought after installation itunes would automatically do it for me.

This morning when my friend informed that his unlocked iphone4 from england arrived and when turned on after putting the microsim. Facetime is activated automatically.
So i thought, let me restart my iphone4. and voila, it was activated. And since then been facetiming
    Hope this helps.

What kind of plan are you on to get the microsim or is it prepaid? Does this microsim work with voice/sms/data? cheers

    hi,
you dont need to be on any plan to get a microSim.
Just head to the Etisalat office and ask for it.
They also provide twin sim service where you can have two sim cards for the same number. (and the Sim they issue would be Sim/break off microSim)
I use these for my iPad and iPhone simultaneously.

this link might help you Etisalat Launches the first Multi-Usage Micro SIM Card Compatible with Apple iPad 3G

on the other hand, you can go to any mobile phone shop and cut your Sim into MicroSim. and i have seen some shops that sells an adapter for the MicroSim cards to be used again as a SIM card
