Custom Carrier iOS 4

hello guys .... thanks for the support, but i got this problem figured out, just by installing IOS4 completely basic without any of your apps or any of the setting, music, photos .. etc, just back up your phone then put in the restoration mode or DFU, use the manual method (hold shift when clicking restore) choose and install IOS4 as a plain factory firmware (brand new), after that add what you need to your phone add manually ...

if you restore from back up, you will face the same problem again, just do the customization manually ....

i tried every single possibility on the web, and that is the only way that worked, regarding your CONTACTS, restore them from outlook in ITunes Phone manager... its a little more time comsuming, but its very clean and sharp process...

So Apple do it again - you get your iPhone working fine, then there's another software upgrade and significant parts of basic functonality disappear.

It is really, really irritating to buy an official iPhone, pay to get it officially unlocked and then have the combination of Apple/Etisalat disable Internet Tethering, block access to basic settings, etc, etc.

All this and the iPhone is actually quite poor as a mobile phone - still no way to send a contact as a text, poor signal reception, poor battery life, etc, etc.

i just upgraded my Iphone 3Gs to OS4, DU carrier(its NO factory lock ), and i have NO internet access through 3g network, only i can use WiFi ... i tried this ipcc file setting, but my ITunes 9.2 does not respond as shown in the instruction in this forum, i have Windows 7 Ultimate ...

any help please ...

It seems du has a billiing issue with iOS 4. I upgraded on the 24th night as was able to use the internet till 26th early morning, I thought I had some billing issue and that was the reason for the service discontinuation untill I received the bill, I have been billed a whooping AED 57,476.82 for the data usage on these 2 days (I am a premier plan A subscriber i.e. unlimited data usage)
Have put up a complaint with du the reply is awaited...
Will update you on their reply. Could you please tell the status of yours as of now (I mean are you still deprived of internet access?)

wow.... no i'm not... i already solved the problem by resseting the OS4 when upgrading to its factory default, without any of my restorations for the old set up, then i added my apps and everything like a brand new cusomization... but as for your huge figure up there 57,476.82, i'm sure its the data usage figures .... its not cash even thers and AED next to it... we had this issue with DU me and my coleagues ... so i think that you don't have to worry ...

Um...ok...why do people always complain about things no one is forcing them to use? If one doesn't like the iPhone there are surely many alternatives out there...

Anyway, just wondering if there was a new custom carrier file for OS4? Would just like to get the logo back instead of the ugly default one. If I knew how to code this myself I would! :-)

Oh well i was playing with my iphone the other day and i found that the PNG picture files that the iphone ios 4 had a strange codec. so i just replaced the original files with the one provided in gierran bundle (OS 3.0 FAQ - Please check here before posting!) then renamed the PNG files to Default_CARRIER_ETISALAT.png and FSO_CARRIER_ETISALAT.png and it restarted my iphone then !!! it worked !!!!
