It's nice to see Opera in the appstore
but Arabic is not supported as I heard
and when I downloaded it .. I couldn't open it .. it sticks with the white page :S
Thanx
In a surprising move, Apple few hours ago has approved Opera Mini web browser for the current iPhone OS. I must say I was not expecting this, since non-Safari-based browsers have been banned from iPhone (non-jailbreak). But I'm certainly happy to be surprised.
It's yet to be available on the Emarati App store. However, I've downloaded it from the UK store.
Will try it out in a bit.
Update 1: This video shows Opera Mini vs. Safari on iPhone. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OpTCS3g-cBY
Opera Mini totally kicks Safari out of the water!
Update 2: It's not opening on my iPhonehttp://picasaweb.google.co.uk/lh/pho...eat=directlink
Update 3: Opera mini web browser, a free app, is now available on the UAE iTunes App store

Update 4: It's 11:24 pm and still can't open the browser. I've download and reinstalled the app several times from the UAE and the US stores, apart from the UK store. But the result remains the same all the time. A blank white page.
Sent a mail the to the developer. Let's see what they have to say.

This is the reply that I got from Opera regarding the malfunction.
Good morning!
We are aware that this is a bug that sometimes occur. There has been filed
a bug report and our QA-team are aware of it. I've encountered the bug
once, what helped then was to uninstall, reboot, reinstall, run Opera Mini
and let it start up without touching the screen etc. The first startup of
Opera Mini takes some 30 seconds, to install various components. After
that it should start up witnin a couple of seconds on a 3GS.

Communications Manager
Opera Software
Thank you for mentioning this problem here.
I searched a lot over the internet but unfortunately NO solution.
I applied the solution which is given by the communication manager of Opera Software but even it didn't work.
I really wonder, what is the problem?
My guess would be that it's not working because Opera uses remote servers to compress websites before they get accessed on the iphone to improve performance and minimize data consumption.
I think this gets blocked by ISPs in UAE because this could potentially give you access to restricted sites.
If you can, try using opera on an unristricted network, or when you travel.
