What is your setup?
Since BC doesn't work, then it isn't a software issue.
Two new Macbook Pro's (Snow Leopard) in the house have been working fine (8 weeks and 2 weeks) until yesterday, 5th, when suddenly they can't connect to the internet.
No error messages, just won't connect.
One has Windows 7 on a Bootcamp partition and it won't connect either (it did before).
Connection is via cable to Du in the Marina.
Other Windows computers in the house connect normally.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.

I don't know what BC is, however, Du support just advised me they have a limit of 5 IP addresses per residence location, of which one is allocated to the TV decoder.
At the moment I have 6 computers in the family, so can only connect with 4 of them.
Du strikes again!
All connections are via ethernet cable. Next question - if I set up a wireless network, does that just use 1 IP address regardless of how many computers are connected to it? Could this be my solution?
Thanks.
BC=BootCamp.
And yes that would be a solution.
However, Du doesn't allow that.
If you can slip that by them, your good.
If not, you might want to setup Internet Sharing on one of the computers and have the others connect to it.

Du had an outage in Marina that day, btw.
Number of IP addresses they allocate for you only matters if you connect all your equipment via wall plugs. If you setup a router, it uses one IP but provides you with as many as you want. So to answer your question, yes. Get a router. Wireless or not.
Mushroom is spot on. NAT for the WIN!

Hey Mushroom you sure on the router advice? I have a 16mb DU line and guess its the problem mentioned above with the restriction of 5 ip address....How crazy is that given today with the push to have every thing wired. For example I have my Apple TV, X box, Play station, Blue Ray Disk Player, Apple Mini Mac, Main Windows Computer, Apple Air, Windows Laptop so that's 8 devices that access the net. I have tried using powered Ethernet plug's as well as combination of Apple Express and Wireless /Router set ups as well as activating and accessing the Du wireless Router still my Internet along with the Du TV will cut out every 5min then reconnect 15 sec later, you can set your watch to it. Dealing with DU customer service....grrrrrr
Take DU Office where you sign up they give you incorrect information, the guys who install your box cant wait to get out of your apartment and the workmanship is .....well Dubai Average. My Internet Box from DU will only permit maximum of 2 Internet connections in your apartment as well as 2 TV connections. Where can you you find this information from DU...
So my question has any one that subscribes to DU Broadband Optic Fiber Internet service had any luck getting around this limitation of IP addresses ?
Is there a solution
@Wayneis
Have you tried enabling NAT?
This allows you to connect multiple devices using 1 IP address.

I changed my Router to a D-Lynk from a Lynksys and am now having a much more stable service. Also updated to a mac mini from my apple TV and finding that with Plex on board its a much more multi media friendly device. Still haveing a few hiccups talking to my windows network so as a short term solution have moved my Hard drives to the USB ports on the mac mini. A work in progress.Thanks for the hint Fangpyre I did not think to check that option.
