Speed Test Results from UAE
Hello there,
Just started posting in EmiratesMac and read some threads here. It all seem good and helpful. It's always good to share experiences (i.e. basically problems) within the same community it gives you an ease of mind at the least. You won't feel that you're the only one receiving poor service(s) or support.
I would like to start this thread which will include a couple of speed test results from different etisalat and du broadband subscribers. This will better enable us to compare speeds and observe change over time. I would greatly appreciate your support and interaction here. I'm going to update this thread every now and then.
My current Internet connection is ADSL from etisalat and it runs at 4Mbps/512Kbps (never reached such speeds though). I'm always getting a consistent speed which is actually much better than my previous amazingly slow/inconsistent cable modem. Current exact speed of my connection in Kbps is 3550/450. What about you?
Current modem/router used: Alcatel-Lucent USB

That's still too much for a 1Mbps connection you're recieving 2Mbps!! Man you're lucky my bro has a 1Mbps and it barely reaches 900Kbps. And your upload pretty much goes beyond the upload speed of a 4Mbps here.
Can you compare your results with other results and give us the highest results achieved in download and upload from du users (like I did above but from etisalat users)? You can find that after doing a speed test just go to "Compare you results to others" and then sort results based on speeds and show us what you find.
Thanks.
