Hi Magnus!
i just wanted to check if you got BB Tethering to work? And also if the connection is done via BIS and not the expensive Data plan of Etisalat?
Anyone knows how to get a Blackberry working as a modem to the internet via Bluetooth (mobile on Etisalat)? What are the settings in the picture attached? At this point all the ones I know from iPhone being discussed on the site. I am trying with a 8310 and I've downloaded the latest modem script for it.
I seem something similar was discusses long time back but I can't remember.

can't wait to have this options works on my Mac![]()
I've had a Bold 9700 for a few months and when I got it, on the Global Unlimited Plan from Etisalat, tethering worked fine with my MacBook Pro. I left he APN on the blackberry as blackberry.net and in the OS X network settings for RIM composite device, I set APN, user name and password as etisalat.ae. I got the appropriate modem scripts from pinstack.com. No problems. I have now changed over to the Domestic Unlimited Plan and the ability to tether has gone. I've tried a variety of settings, tried tether, all to no avail. I don't know if it is the change in plan or if Etisalat has now blocked it. I spoke to someone at Etisalat blackberry support last night who told me it wasn't blocked and that it just didn't work for blackberries as the APN was set at blackberry.net - getting a separate data plan wouldn't help. Of course, that was of no help - changing the APN on the Bold itself makes no difference now. I might change back to Global Unlimited next month and see what that does, though it means another hour sitting in the Etisalat office........
Anyone else have any comments?
Thanks derobertson for sharing the info...I would say you were luckier than me as it never works for me whether global or domestic plan...
Has anyone got this working?
BlackBerry Desktop Manager 6.0+ can apparently tether your connection over USB Cable and the upcoming BB OS will allow WiFi Tethering to up to 5 devices.
This again all dependent on wether Etislat/DU considers Tethering as a breach of the Fair Usage Policy.
i think i can help you with this!
@ Albar00d Go ahead and post it. Let all know.
