Well etisalat has released its new mobile broadband 4G network. Speeds reaching unto 100mb/sec. So they say.
Claiming to be 30-40% cheaper than existing packages. Lets just wait to see that.
Etisalat has given it to various people for try it out.

I really do hope that 30-40% cheaper means its cheaper for the consumer and not cheaper for Etisalat. :S

I mean give me a break, "Unlimited" (Fair usage policy cap of 10gb) 3.5G Wireless Data for 400 AED?! My iPhone package is cheaper than that and I get free calling minutes and be able to make calls & sms's to boot! And an iPhone too!

But either way, if we believe the 30-40% figure from the news, the price will be about 280 AED. Al Shamil & eLife packaged lines come out cheaper with all the added benefits.

I have tested Etisalat 4G network and got a download speed of 80Mbps. Probably in other locations it reaches 100Mbps or more! Check out this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YhlBbj0JTUE

I saw one in action at GITEX and it produced about 67 down and 27 up on a MacBook Air 13-inch.

Hope you all had a pleasant Christmas.
I just wnated to know is this is not clear from Etisalat site.
To use the 4G, all we need is the propoer USB modem? the Sim card remain the same of the post paid?
What Mifi or mobile hot spot can operate 4G then? I will be using my iPad from a portable wifi from there.
    thanks

    Hi Larimkh,

That's not true. Even if you have a 4G USB modem, it will not work. You need to have your SIM activated on the 4G network as well. I tried my normal SIM and didn't work. Etisalat hasn't activated it's 4G network yet. I believe once it does, it will activate all SIMs as well.
About the Mifi, there are only few operate in 4G, google them and you'll find out.

    Hi Guys,

I'm waiting too for Etisalat to open up the LTE network. Once they do that, I'm gonna get a 4G Router and place the Sim in that. Hopefully their packages are nominal.

4G will be a nice and welcome change but really could not say anything about its package prices until it is finally launched.

Guys so I took the jump and went for the 4G LTE USB Modem from Etisalat. Have a look at their speeds, pretty impressive.
