    Angry Blackberry Ban in UAE!

    BlackBerry users in the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia could find themselves with less than useful handsets, if proposed bans in the two Gulf states go ahead. Each is unhappy with the encryption RIM use with their servers, which prevents state monitoring of data services used by BlackBerry owners; it’s been alleged that the UAE telecoms regulator attempted to load spyware onto BlackBerry phones in 2009, a move which proved unsuccessful.

    But very bad news for anyone who relied on he unlimited international data when traveling as you now only get 10 or 20MB international roaming.

    I would think companies and other organizations that often depend on BB devices and architecture now are wondering what to do. Some functionality may be possible to mimic with other solutions but perhaps not everything or as easily.

    I wonder if because of this, Etisalat would consider delaying the launch of iPhone 4 till after October 11th.

    Only thing not 100% confirmed is whether a Blackberry ban will come into effect, although from what is happening in India and Saudi, I doubt that it will happen. Oh well, only one more week to find out.
